Q.  What is North Sound Elite Basketball?
A. North Sound Elite Basketball is a 501(c) (3) Non-Profit AAU member organization who supports and promotes competitive girls and boys basketball. The mission of the program is to assist student athletes in skill development and to increase their visibility with college coaches nationwide. Skill development and exposure opportunities are provided by offering structural training and by participating in tournaments highly scouted by college coaches.
 
Q. Why Play for the North Sound Elite?
A. The North Sound Elite Basketball program provides all players the opportunity to learn the game of basketball, develop and improve their skills, and play competitive basketball against great competition.  The North Sound Elite basketball prepare the athletes for the next level by teaching them the fundamentals of the game and provide them the opportunity to display their skills that promote and market themselves to college coaches. Every effort is made to provide each player quality attention.
 
Q. Who administers the North Sound Elite Program?
A. Board of Directors administer the North Sound Elite Program. The Board of Directors is comprised of 6 dedicated individuals who volunteer countless hours to provide young student athletes with quality basketball experiences.

Q. Why play competitive AAU Basketball?
A. Today, competitive AAU basketball is essential in developing the best basketball players. Competitive basketball offers a high level of competition that most high school programs and many college programs simply can not offer. It provides an avenue that college coaches can see an athlete in a highly competitive environment playing at the highest level possible for youths. Competitive AAU basketball is an absolute necessity for the serious student athlete looking to improve their skills and attain a college scholarship.

Q. Who determines the eligibility by age or grade?
A. North Sound Elite competes in grade based AAU events such as regional qualifiers, state and national    championships. We may also compete in age correct AAU based events where the AAU age determining date is July 1 for girls and September 1 for boys.

Q. Who are the North Sound Elite Coaches?
A. North Sound Elite Basketball is a 501(c) (3) Non-Profit AAU member organization who supports and promotes competitive girls and boys basketball. Q. When are tryouts for the teams?
A. North Sound Elite encourage all who want to participate in this competitive basketball. Each "Tryout" is a version of what a training session contains. It is also an information session about the program. Tryouts are held in late summer.

Q. What are the players' expenses?
A.The fee's vary for each Team. For the 2010/2011 Season grades 5-8 will pay ~ $100/month plus tournament, league and travel fees. This includes the monthly training. The program hosts several fundraising events through out the year to minimize the impact on precious family resources. Families are provided fundraising opportunities year round which offset players' expenses.

Q. What is the commitment for each team?
A. Team commitment begin in September/October each year. We recruit players continuously for our competitive   teams. Each team will play between 50-80 games in a number of tournaments. These tournaments are played in the state of Washington early in the season and finishing the year with out of state tournaments for the competitive teams. AAU competitive basketball is for skilled and motivated players who are willing to make the commitment to improve their individual team and leadership skills. Typically all tournaments with the exception of nationals, are held on weekends.The competitive season concludes at the end of July and an awards banquet may be held in August.

Q. What are college exposure tournaments?
A. College exposure tournaments are events that are NCAA certified that permit college coaches to attend for the purpose of evaluating and recruiting potential college players. As stated earlier, the mission of North Sound Elite is to assist student-athletes in skill development and to increase their visibility with college coaches nationwide. Skill development and exposure opportunities are provided by offering structural competitive practices and by participating in tournaments highly scouted by college coaches.    The older teams will participate in several college exposure events during the competitive season.

Q. What type of volunteer activities are parents required to do?
A. There are a number of ways to volunteer within our organization. These include but are not limited to becoming a team manager, coach, organizing fundraiser's, chaperons or volunteering to work at one of our tournaments.
